Pearl K. Scoleri, 93, of Windermere, FL (formerly of Pocahontas, VA) passed away Sunday, February 28, 2010, at Florida Hospital, Altamonte Springs, FL. She was the daughter of the late Aaron and Julia Orban Kovach. She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip A. Scoleri; her four brothers, Kelly Kovach, Gaza Kovach, Frank Kovach, Bill Kovach and grandson Philip A. Scoleri II. She was the last surviving member of her family.
Survivors include her son Philip and wife Joanne Scoleri of Tuscany Hills, CA; David and wife Margaret Scoleri of Windermere, FL; two granddaughters, Julia A. Scoleri, Jacksonville, FL and Jennifer M. Pilson of Windermere, FL; grandson, Thomas Collins, Riverside, CA. Survivors also include a beloved sister-in-law, Tracy Lay, Beckley, WV. Her family, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends will miss her dearly.
Pearl lived in Pocahontas, VA for 85 years. Throughout Pearl’s life she was best known for her family commitment and for her legendary love of cooking. The number of cakes, bread, cookies and cabbage rolls given to friends and family would be in the hundreds. She was also known for her beautiful needlework and loved flower gardening. The experiences of life gave her the ability to give sage advice on many topics. Her personal warmth and incredible spirit has touched the lives of all who have met her.
Burial arrangements will be by Craven-Shires Funeral Home, Bluewell, WV. Services will take place at the Woodlawn Mausoleum in
