Henry Harrison Dinger, Sr., age 73, of PO Box 252 Montcalm, WV, passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2010 at a Princeton hospital from the effects of a 2.5 year battle with cancer. Born on October 6, 1936 in Brushfork, he was a son of the late George Kyle Dinger and Arlene Poston Dinger Neal. He had been a resident of Montcalm for 33 years and was a member of the Montcalm Pentecostal Holiness Church. He had served his country for 22 years in the US Navy. He was a Navy Seal and served three tours of duty in Vietnam. He retired from the military in 1977. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepson, Gregory D. Sparks and a step-brother, Ellis B. Neal, Jr. Survivors include: Wife of 33 years: Patricia Deck Dinger of the home 2 Daughters: Tammy Underwood and husband Richard, Jr. of Bluefield Sally Eversole and husband Gary of Brushfork 2 sons: Henry H. Dinger, II of Bluefield Michael H. Lewis and wife Amanda of Bluewell 4 grandchildren: Tammy Farley and husband Joe of Abbs Valley, VA Andy Tabor of Brushfork Richard D. Underwood, III and wife Christine of Canada Evan M. Lewis of Bluewell 4 great grandchildren: Trevor, Kaylee, Sarah and Taya and one unborn who is due in July 3 sisters: Judy Barreira and husband Jim of Westport, MA Avis Mullins and Ellen Hurt of Duhring Stepmother: Clara Ruth Dinger of Duhring Special friends: Roy Spaulding, Benny Hall, Ted Saddler, LeRoy Lane, and Andrew Bailey Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Larry Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where the WV Honor Guard will conduct full military honors. Henry H. Dinger, II, Michael E. Lewis, Wayne Dinger, Barry Dinger, Larry Dinger, Richard Underwood, Jr., and Gary Eversole will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call on Tuesday from 6-8 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell.
