Jesse Ray Smith, age 83, Route 5 Box 503, Bluefield, WV, passed away on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at his home. Born on February 22, 1927 in Ennis, he was a son of the late Jesse Benjamin and Annie West Smith. He had been a resident of Ceres for 40 years and was an auto mechanic. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Carder. Survivors include: Wife: Thelma Preston Smith of the home 3 sons: Jesse Smith and Faye of Bluestone Charles Smith and Sherri of Rocky Gap, VA Larry Smith and Doris of Bluewell 1 daughter: Susan Dawson and Bill of Somerset, KY 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren Sister: Mary Frances Carlson and John of Farwell ,TX Special Aunt: Mary Shaw of Princeton, W V Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, June 25, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Minster Bill Dawson officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call on Thursday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
