Alvis Rife Mitchem

Alvis Rife Mitchem, age 65, of P.O. Box 210, Methodist Hill Road, Montcalm, WV died on Sunday, April 4, 2010 at his home. Born on February 25, 1945 in Wyoming County, he was a son of Louisa Bailey Mitchem of Brushfork and the late Louis Mitchem. He had lived in Mercer County for over 30 years and attended the Montcalm Church of God. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Vickie Mitchem and a stepson, Gregory Beggs. Survivors include: Wife: Anna J. Mitchem of the home Sons: Albert L. Mitchem of Colliers, WV Greg Mitchem of Elkhorn, WV Jeffery Mitchem of Mayden, NC Step-son: Garland Dale Beggs of Gatesville, TX Step-Daughter: Cynthia Rose of Boissevain, VA Brother: Roger L. Mitchem of Newton, NC Sister: Peggy M. Mitchem of Brushfork, WV 8 Grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, 2 step-grandchildren, and 1 step-great-grandchild Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 9, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. Albert Mitchem and Rev. Omar Burns officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park where pallbearers will be Ray Jennings and the men of the church. Friends may call on Thursday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
