ROCK, WV---Larry Edsel Gross, age 57, of 4192 Rock River Road, Rock, WV, formerly of Welch, WV, passed away on Monday, July 26, 2010 on the farm that he loved in Rock, WV. Born on August 13, 1952 in Elbert, WV and grew up in Gadsden, Alabama. He was the son of the late Rev. Carl Gross and Madelyn Meadows Gross. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and before becoming disabled, worked at U.S. Steel Corp. He loved riding Harley Davidson Bikes and his horses. He was grateful for the land that God had blessed him to care for and on Saturday, July 17, 2010 he made this statement, “ I thank God for my family everyday”. As a child he wished for a farm and got his dream, as every boy should. He was always a cowboy at heart. In addition to his dad, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol Yates Gross; their two infant children, Gregory Eugene Gross and Sarah Nicole Gross; grandparents, Paris and Mellie Gross and Joe and Clydia Meadows. Survivors include, his mother, Madelyn Gross of Elbert, WV. His wife, Susan Green of Rock, WV Two sons, Tony Gross of Gadsden, Alabama Chris Gross of Gary, WV Four grandchildren, Chance Gross of Gadsden, Alabama Aaric and Sierah of Gary, WV Jay Gross of Bluefield, WV Mothers of grandchildren are, Shaunetta Lane of Bluefield, WV Knasaun Orr of Gary, WV One brother, Kevin Gross and wife Brenda of Bluefield, VA One sister, LaVerne Dale of Elbert, WV One nephew, Mickey Keasler and wife Lisa of Yadkinville, NC Three nieces, Sarah Lynn Gross of Tazewell, VA Candice Keasler of Welch, WV Joy Dale of War, WV Two great-nieces, Bethany Keasler of Wilkesboro, NC Savannah Blair of War, WV One great-nephew, Matthew Keasler of Roanoke, VA One great-great niece and nephew, Logan and Morgan Wingler of Wilkesboro, NC Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 31, 2010 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell, WV. Friends may call Saturday, July 31, 2010 from 1:00 p.m. until time of services at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
