James Monroe Finley

James Monroe Finley, age 93, of PO Box 25, Switchback, WV, passed away on Friday, December 25, 2009 at a Gary nursing home. Born on May 25, 1916 in Washington County, VA, he was a son of the late Wiley and Elizabeth Farmer Finely. He had been a resident of Switchback for 93 years and was a member of the Church of God. He was a retired coal miner. In addition to her parents, he was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Natalie Fowler. He was the last surviving member of his family. Survivors include: Wife: April Rouse Finley of the home Daughter: Margaret Finely of Switchback 5 grandchildren: Elizabeth A. Finley and husband Andrew of England, UK James M. Finley and wife Kayla of Bluefield Katherine L. Finley of Maybeury Megan S. Finley of Switchback Karrina L. Finley of Switchback 1 great grandchild: Maddison Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 2:30 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Ronald Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell where family members will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call on Monday from 1:00 – 2:30 PM at the funeral home.
