Evo A. “Hank” Pais, age 89, of PO Box 248, Kimball, WV, passed away on Friday, December 25, 2009 at a Bluefield hospital. Born on August 17, 1920 in Vivian, he was a son of the late John and Maria Pais Pais. He had been a lifelong resident of McDowell County and was a retired manager for the Kimball Lights and Water Company. He was a graduate of Welch High School and was a veteran of the US Navy who served in World War II in the North Atlantic, Mediterranean and South Pacific. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and a member of the American Legion. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Williams Pais; and two brothers, Lewis and Ateo Pais. Survivors include: Son: Michael Pais of Chesapeake, VA 2 daughters: Susan Scherer of Williamsburg, VA Frances Baker of Scott Depot, WV 2 grandchildren: Aaron Baker and Renae Phillips of Scott Depot 1 sister: Lillian Steelman of Wyomissing, PA Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. Earl Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell where family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call on Tuesday from 6-8PM at the funeral home.
