Marshall Barker, 85, of 204 Shepherd Road (Bluewell) Bluefield, West Virginia passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at Princeton Community Hospital in Princeton, West Virginia.
Mr. Barker was born on August 30, 1924 in McDowell County, West Virginia to the late William Elsie Barker and Myrtle Sexton Barker. Was a resident of Bluewell, West Virginia for the past 55 years, He had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Bluewell, West Virginia where he served as Deacon. He was retired from US Steel #14 Gary with 35 years’ service and was a member of the UMWA. Marshall also served his country in WWII in the US Navy.

Two Sons William Marshall Barker and wife Sherry of Ghent, West Virginia
Michael Lee and wife Kathy of Bluefield, West Virginia
Two sisters Blanche Wooldridge of Tennessee and Ada Mundy and Husband David of Baltimore, Maryland
Three grandchildren Zackary Barker, Katherine Barker and Rachel Barker.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 27, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, West Virginia with the Rev. Ray Lynch and Rev. James Milam officiating the service. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Virginia where the West Virginia Honor Guard and Mercer County Veterans Council will be conducting Military graveside services.
Friends and family may call at the First Baptist Church in Bluewell, West Virginia on Saturday, December 26, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Zackary Barker, Bob Blevins, Todd Petrunger, Gene Buckner, Tim Barker and Harold Webb. Horary pallbearers will be Robert Auton, Ben Meadow and Willis Bishop.
