James M. Jones, 80, of 203 Crabapple Lane Bluefield, West Virginia passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at a Bluefield Hospital. Born on August 10, 1929 in Decota, West Virginia he was the son of John E. and Opal E. Miller Jones who preceded him in death. He attended the Bluewell United Methodist Church for 50 years. He served in the US Air Force for four years, stationed in the Far East for two years during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the America Legion, Bramwell Masonic Lodge # 85, Bluefield Shrine Club and Scottish Rite. He was retired from Beneficial Finance Company. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by a Brother, Kenneth Jones Survivors Include: His wife of 58 years Julia Bartman Jones of the home Sister Mary Ellen Fitzpatrick and husband Jim of Lancaster, Ohio Brothers John E. Jones and wife Nina of Sweetwater, Tennessee and Ulysses C. Jones and wife Opal of Huntsville, Alabama. Son Matt Jones and wife Tammy and their children Mason and Sarah of Morristown, Tennessee. Daughter Deborah Gilpin and husband Lynn of Uniontown, Pennsylvania Grandson Adam Gilpin and wife Holly and son Ryan Cole of Cambridge Maryland Granddaughter Amanda Davis and husband Mark of Bluefield Memorial service will be conducted on Sunday, December 27, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, West Virginia with the Rev. Stephen Rector officiating the service. Burial will follow at the Frasher Cemetery in Gary, West Virginia. Friends and family may call at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, West Virginia on Sunday, December 27, 2009 one hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Bluewell United Methodist Church or Bluefield Shrine Club Online condolences will be accepted at www.cravens-shires.com Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell is serving the family.
