Lava Yost Staton, age 94, of Bluefield, WV died on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at Princeton Community Hospital.
Born in Durhing, WV, she was a daughter of the late Harry E. and Della Mullin Yost. She had lived in Bluewell for the past 52 years and was a member of the Bluewell United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Methodist Women, Order of the Eastern Star, Quilters Club, Ladies Bible Class, XYZ, Choir, 4-H All Stars, and former member of the Bluewell Homemaker Club. She was also chairperson of the Homecoming Committee. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Randolph Staton, Jr.; 2 sisters, Ena Yost and Tula Marrs; and 2 brothers, Vernum and Arl F. Yost.

Brother: Thurman E. Yost and wife Peggy of Burgettstown, PA
Sisters: Ola Yost Shutt of Nemours, WV
Eulalia Smith of Bluefield, WV
Grandchildren: Tamara S. Carter and husband Vivek Sriram, Jennifer Doughton and husband Lynnie and Randy Carter and wife Tonya.
5 Great-Grandchildren: McKenzie Carter, Leela & Kiran Sriram, Piper and Hadley Doughton
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Bluewell United Methodist Church with Rev. Stephen Rector and Rev. D. Homer Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA. Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmy Keller, Allen Keller, Terry Keller, Logan Lineberry, Billy Lineberry, John Belcher, Bradley Belcher, Roger Beaman, and Kevin Crane. Friends may call on Friday evening from 6-8 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell and at the church one hour prior to the service.
