Joseph "Boyd" Silvers

BLUEFIELD, WV--- Joseph “Boyd” Silvers, age 85, of RT 5 Box 722C Bluefield, WV passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at Cassell Board and Care in Princeton, WV. Born January 9, 1925 at Bee Log, NC, he was the son of the late Ora Silvers Edward. Mr. Silvers was a retired coal miner where he had worked 30 years with Massey Coal Company and was a member of the UMWA. He was also a World War II U.S. Army Veteran and was a member of the American Legion. Mr. Silvers was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Bluewell, WV. Survivors include, Wife, Betty Johnson Silvers, of the Home in Bluefield, WV Two sons, Robert Allen Silvers and wife Karen of Bluefield, WV Danny R. Silvers and wife Karen of PA One daughter, Christina McGuire and husband Terry of Pomeroy, OH One sister, Lucille Daniel of Roderfield, WV Five grandchildren Ten great-grandchildren Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday September 24, 2010 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell, WV with Rev. James Milam officiating . Burial will follow in Grandview Memory Gardens, Bluefield, VA where the WV Honor Guard will conduct Military graveside rites. Friends may call Friday, September 24, 2010 from 12:00 noon until time of services at 1:00 p.m. Men of the First Baptist Church in Bluewell will serve as Pallbearers.
