Evelyn Katherine Johnson

Evelyn Katherine Bowling Johnson, age 81, of 1116 College Avenue, Bluefield, WV, passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2009 at a Bluefield hospital. Born on March 16, 1928 in North Tazewell, VA, she was a daughter of the late Melvin C. Julia N. Boothe Bowling. She had been a resident of Bluefield for 60 years and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include: 2 sons: Roger Lee Johnson and wife Emmajean of Lexington, SC Randall Harmon Johnson and wife Jackie of Fayetteville, NC 3 daughters: Martha Ann Wright of Ft. Pierce, FL Mary Jane Malone and husband Gene of Princeton Kathy Lester and husband Steve of Bluewell 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren 2 sisters: Virginia Mabe of North Tazewell, VA Alieen Herald of North Tazewell, VA Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at 3:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Captain Jerry Lester officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA where Brian, Scotty, Eddie & Robert Lester, Abel Soledami, and Lonnie Cochran will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call on Tuesday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
