Jerry Michael Crouch

Jerry Michael Crouch of Roanoke, VA passed away peacefully on Monday, Sept 6, 2010 at Duke University Hospital. He was surrounded by his loving family. Born May 26, 1945 in Crumpler, WV, he was the son of the late Ashby and Annie Crouch. Jerry served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War and in the Army National Guard Reserve. He received his undergraduate degree from Roanoke College and his MBA at Averett University. Jerry was retired from General Electric Company with thirty-two years service. Jerry was a very loving, caring and creative person. He found the greatest joy in doing and making things for others. He was an expert handyman; there was nothing he could not fix or repair. He enjoyed cooking and spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed reading and wrote many beautiful poems. As a child, Jerry dreamed about traveling around the world and through his military service and career he was able to fulfill this dream as he traveled throughout America, Europe and Asia. In addition to his parents, two brothers, Ashby Lee, Jr., and Frank Crouch; and sister Juanita Grubb preceded him in death. Jerry is survived by his wife, Xiaodan, and stepson, Zijian, son Jason and daughters, Angela and Leandra. Surviving siblings include: Mabel Shrader (Ralph) of Thousand Oaks, CA; Mary Wimberly of Ft. Myers, FL; Dorothy Rabenold (Woody) of Allentown, PA; Jim (Alice), Aurora, CO; Minnie, Ft. Myers, FL; Billy Joe, Aurora, CO; Patricia Lightfoot, Bluefield, WV; Sandra Domaratzki (Ludwik), Williamsburg, VA; Dennis, Roanoke, VA; Joetta Dotson (Freddie), Bluefield, VA; and Sharon Miller (Paul), Ft. Myers, FL. He is also survived by many wonderful nieces, nephews and friends. Honoring his wishes, his body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am, Friday Sept 10 at the Ridgewood Baptist Church, 703 Hemlock Road Northwest, Roanoke, VA, 24017. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2840 Electric Rd. Suite 106, Roanoke, VA, 24018 or to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 5511 Staples Mill Road, Suite 2028, Richmond, VA 23228.
