Pery Eugene Culbertson

Perry Eugene Culbertson, age 79, of Rt. 1, Box 101 A, Peterstown, WV died on Monday, May 24, 2010 at Princeton Community Hospital. Born on July 23, 1930 in Freeman, WV he was a son of the late Charles A. and Lillie Short Culbertson. He had resided at Springfield Center in Peterstown since February 14, 2007. He was retired from the Pepsi Cola Bottling Company as a delivery man. He loved and lived airplanes and flying. He would fly a friend’s plane from Mercer County Airport to Bristol or Roanoke, have lunch and return to Mercer County Airport. He was happiest when flying. He attended Bramwell Schools and served in the US Army from which he was honorably discharged. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Theodore Culbertson who died on March 13, 2009. Survivors: His sister and caregiver, Elizabeth Bernice Culbertson Tilley and husband and caregiver as well, Randolph David Tilley of Princeton, WV Nephew: Charles David Tilley of Princeton, WV Special Friends: Harold and Bridget Burton His special little buddies: Amber, Heath, and Reece Burton Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Greenview United Methodist Church in Green Valley with Rev. Brent Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Serving as pallbearers will be Will Frazier, Jerry Levitt, Brandon Etter, Skip Gibbs, Kermit Whitt, and Donald Surface.Honorary pallbearers will be Harold and Beulah Mae Catron, Virgie Shields, Tom Mould and Sidney Shires. Friends may call on Wednesday evening from 6-8 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Springfield Center Recreation Department or the Greenview United Methodist Church.
