Lovida Maria Mitchem

BLUEFIELD, WV--- Lovida Marie Mitchem, age 87, of 311 Oakdell Ave. Bluefield, WV was welcomed into Heaven on Sunday, January 10, 2010 at her daughter’s residence. Born June 30, 1922 at Damascus, VA. She was the daughter of the late Glen G. and Frona Davis Davis. Mrs. Mitchem was a homemaker and a member of Crossroads Church of Bluefield. She had a passion for God and family. One of her greatest interests was attending her flower beds and manicuring her yards. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Samuel Alexander Mitchem; and one great-grandchild, Richard Lyn Selvey. Survivors include, One son, Richard L. Selvey of Myrtle Beach, SC Four daughters, Sammie L. Andrews of Bluefield, WV Diana E. Tibbs of Rocky Gap, VA Glenna T. Mitchem of Orlando, FL Kevin D. Sands of Walkers Creek, VA Ten grandchildren, J.A.M. (Ginger) Krause, Debra Smith, Tammy Dyer, Denise K. Shammaa, Brock D. Tibbs, Jarrod S. Tibbs, Seth S. Tibbs, Toby A. Dotson, Marie A. R. May, and C. Casey Dotson. Ten great grandchildren, Hastie Hovey, Richard L. Chambers, Jennifer Pennington, Heather Smith, Sharnai Thompson, D. Hampton Andrews, Courtney S. Andrews, Westley S. Shammaa, Hailey Tibbs, and Harper Tibbs. Three great- great-grandchildren , Taylor R. G. Sowers. Ella Marie Hovey, and Izabella Smith Funeral services will be held 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell, WV with Pastor Scott Bryan and Rev. Preston Mathena officiating. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Grandview Memory Gardens, Bluefield, VA. Those wishing to attend graveside services are asked to meet at the Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday, January 12, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Lyn Chambers, Hampton Andrews, Brock Tibbs, Seth Tibbs, Kirk Sands and Kenny Kraus will serve as Pallbearers. Danny Tibbs, Jarrod Tibbs, Sharif Shammaa, and Steven May will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
