Helen Louise Carter

Helen Louise Carter, age 80, of 156 Shamrock Lane (Yards) , Bluefield, VA, passed away on Monday, January 11, 2010 at a Princeton hospital following a long illness. Born on September 7, 1929 in Elberton, GA, she was a daughter of the late Alphonse B. and Louise Hall Rieder. She had been a resident of Yards for 47 years and was a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Carter; and a brother, Wesley Rieder. Survivors include: 2 daughters: Tamar (Tammy) Chafin and husband Edward of Abbs Valley, VA Sylvia Frazier and husband Nick of Radford, VA Grandchildren: Jamey Smith and wife Becky of Radford, VA Eddie Chafin of Falls Mills, VA Sylena Harless and husband Ashley of Dublin, VA Michele Crigger and husband Jacob of Bluefield Great grandchildren: Hunter Chafin, Jason Willis, Shayne Harless, Isaach Crigger and Tristin Smith 1 sister: Vivian Lunsford and husband Dean of Elberton, GA Special nephew: Curtis Radford Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, January 14, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Gus Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Friends may call on Wednesday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
