Mason Gordon Carl, Sr.

Mason Gordon Carl Sr. ,48, of Bluefield, WV, died in his home Saturday evening, December 12, 2009. Mason was born in Bluefield West Virginia on September 17, 1961. He lived all over West Virginia till 1986 when he moved to Westerville Ohio and started working for the Westerville City schools as an H.V.A.C. Technician. Mason and his wife and children lived there till August of 1998 when he retired from the schools and they moved back to Bluefield, WV. For many years Mason had a handyman service that he ran. He was one of those people that everyone talked about as a “Jack of all trades.” There were not too many things he could not do or fix when it came to it. Mason had many hobbies that he enjoyed very much like hunting and fishing, he just loved to be outdoors. But his most favorite hobby of all was the time he spent with his grandchildren Cora, Makayla and Max. Mason was loved by all and befriended by everyone he met. He had the world’s biggest heart and would help anyone in any way that he could. He would take the shirt off his back and give it to a perfect stranger. He will be missed and is loved by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Walter F, Carl Jr. and Etta Viola Litz Carl; Three brothers Samuel, David and Gratton (G.L.) and two sisters Libby and Betty.. He is survived by his wife of 29 years Ruby Pauline Carl. His oldest daughter Felicia Ann and fiancé Tim Paul and her two children Cora Marie Lynn and Max Isiah. His son Mason Gordon Carl Jr. And youngest daughter Christina Marie and her husband William Packard and their daughter Makayla Lynn. He is also survived by two brothers Pastor Frank Carl of Westerville, Oh, Charles Carl of Charleston, WV and one sister Ruth Prado of Muskogee, Ok. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, December 18, 2009 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Dr. Stephen Lilly officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell. Pallbearers for the service will be: Felicia Ann Carl Pratt (Honor Guard) William P. Packard, Timothy C. Paul, Douglas Baker, Michael Shepard, Charles W. Surface, Robbie Call, Charles Carl Jr., Walter F. Carl IV. Friends may call from 12:00-1:00 PM at the funeral home.
