Roy Curtis Mitchell

Roy Curtis Mitchell, age 74, of Route 4 Box 339, Bluefield, WV, passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2009 at his residence. Born on December 4, 1935 in Brushfork, he was a son of the late Howard W. and Bessie Shrader Mitchell. He had been a lifelong resident of Bluewell and attended the Mt. Herman Baptist Church. He was last employed as a caretaker at GlenWood Park and had formerly worked at Bluefield Armature. When he was able and before his health failed, he loved to hunt, fish and feed the squirrels and deer. He also loved to collect and swap knives. Survivors include: Wife of 54 years: Lucille Mitchell of the home 2 daughters: Kathy Mitchell Miller and husband Ron of DeFuniak Springs, FL Melissa Sue Mitchell Shupe and husband Richard of Bluewell 6 grandchildren: Jacob & Jimi Miller; Junior & Brandon Shupe; John & Joshua Mitchell 2 great grandchildren: Skylar and Landon Mitchell 2 brothers: Ernest Mitchell and wife Nettie of Bluewell Dale Mitchell of Bluefield Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Pastor Dewayne Belcher officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell where grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call on Tuesday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
