Robert William Fowler, age 83, of Statesville, NC, formerly of Gary, WV, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at his home.
Born on August 21, 1925, in Thorpe, WV, he was a son of the late William and Nannie Mitchem Fowler. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the US Army where he received a Bronze Star for his bravery. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. He was a retired mechanic for Gary US Steel .He was of the Pentecostal Holiness Faith. He was very active in his community having served with the SHARE program. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 6 brothers and a sister.

Betty Parish, widow of Rev. Daniel Parish, of Leckie, WV
Sandra Adams and husband Dennis of Statesville, NC
Brother: Junior Edward Fowler of Draper Valley, VA
7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Pastor Mary Lambert officiating. Songs will be performed by Linda Lambert. They both are of Leckie Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call on Friday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
