James Edward Hale

James Edward Hale, age 83, of Route 5 Box 416 (Bluewell), Bluefield, WV, passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at his home. Born on November 21, 1926 in Bluewell, he was a son of the late Charles R. and Mary Lillian Cheere Hale. He had been a lifelong resident of Bluewell and was a member of Bluewell United Methodist Church in Bluewell. He was a veteran of the US Army Air Force and was a member of the Bluefield Masonic Lodge #85. He was retired from N&W Railroad where he worked as a car inspector and road fireman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Lee Sowers Hale; 3 brothers, R.S. Hale, Marvin B. Hale, and Jack A. Hale; and a sister, Lillian Mitchell. Survivors include: Son: James Hale of Bluewell Daughter: Katherine Murdock of Centreville, OH 1 grandson: Craig Murdock and wife Katie of Centreville, OH 2 granddaughters: Amanda Hale Reese and husband Philip of Roanoke, VA Emily Hale Perdue and husband Johnny of Bluefield 1 great granddaughter: Braelyn 1 sister: Martha Ann Ferrell of Irving, TX Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, January 4, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Bluewell United Methodist Church in Bluewell with Rev. Stephen Rector officiating. Burial will follow at the Hale Family Cemetery in Bluewell where Masonic rites will be conducted the Bluefield Masonic Lodge #85. Friends may call on Sunday from 6-8 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell and on Monday at the church one hour prior to services.
