Ronnie C. Thomas

Ronnie C. Thomas, age 65, of Route 2 Box 473 (Durhing), Rock, WV, passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2009 at a Bluefield hospital. Born on April 13, 1944 in Princeton, he was a son of the late Donald C. and Myrtle Blevins Thomas. He had been a resident of Durhing for 45 years and was a 1962 graduate of Montcalm High School. He was a faithful member of the Maple View Church of Christ and was active in the DMA’s. He was retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad after 38 years of service. He was a member of the UTU Railroad Union and also the Railroad Retirees Club, Bluefield, WV. Survivors include his: Wife of 45 years: Alice Wright Thomas of the home Daughter: Shelle Thompson and husband Kent of Lynchburg, VA Special grandson: Johnathan K. Thompson, Jr. Brother: Donald C. Thomas, Jr. of Durhing Mother in law: Doris Wright Fritz also of Durhing Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at 8:00 PM at the Maple View Church of Christ with Ministers Tony Reed, Buddy Goins, and Gregg Breisch officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday from 6-8 PM at the church. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Wright Family Cemetery on Wright’s Mountain. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home on Wednesday at 10:30 AM. Friends will serve as pallbearers. Bob Culler and Don Cooper will serve as honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Maple View Church of Christ, Route 2 Box 77, Bluefield, WV 24701.
