Mary Ellen Sadler

Mary Ellen Aust Sadler, age 80, of Route 3 Box 193 (Bluewell), Bluefield, WV, passed away on Friday, February 5, 2010 at the home of her son in Princeton. Born on August 14, 1929 in McComas, she was a daughter of the late Rev. Harvey L. and Birtie Spicer Aust. She had been a lifelong resident of Mercer County and for the last several years she resided with and was cared for by her children. She was a 1948 graduate of Bramwell High School. She was a proud member of the Pentecostal Holiness denomination and was a founding member of Bluewell Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was active in the implementation of the Bible in Schools program at Bluewell Elementary School. For years, she assisted her husband in the pastorate of churches in McDowell county and in Tazewell, VA. After the death of her husband she attended the Montcalm Pentecostal Holiness Church and taught the Adult Sunday School class for many years. She was past president of Bluewell Elementary PTA. She was a past member of the Women’s Ministries Board of the Appalachian Conference of the Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was also a proud widow of the United Mine Workers of America and a proud member of the Democrat party. She will be missed and remembered by her family as a loving, caring mother and grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. William L .Sadler; a sister, Hazel Hedrick; and brother, Jimmie Aust. Survivors include: Children: Barbara E. Vance (Sam) of Bluewell Dr. Daniel L. Sadler (Laura) of Neshanic Station, NJ Honorable Judge William J. Sadler (Barbara) of Princeton Mary Faith Cook (Samuel) of Scott Depot, WV Grandchildren: David, Joshua and Sarah Sadler of Neshanic Station, NJ Kelsy and Kirsten Sadler of Princeton Emilee Hope Cook of Scott Depot, WV Sister: Shirley Bielecki of Woodstock, IL Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Preston Mathena officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell with Allen Aust, James Aust, Duane Blevins, Jeff Warden, Eddie Herald, Les Mitchell, Skip Crane and Chuck Lawless will serve as pallbearers. Cousins Eddie and Jerry Spicer, and neighbor Ken Bowen will serve as honorary pallbearers. Friends may call on Monday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
