Margaret C. Mathena, 88, of 611 Quail Drive Bluefield, Virginia passed away on Monday, November 16, 2009 at her residence. She was born on December 20, 1920 in Hurley, Virginia to the late Howard Justus and Damaris Justus. Margaret had lived in Bluefield, VA for 12 years, was a member of the War Pentecostal Holiness Church for 68 years and attended the Cross Roads Church in Bluefield, West Virginia. She was a retired business owner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn P. Mathena; a stepson, Lynn Mathena; a granddaughter, Alisha Bearre; 14 brothers and a sister. Survivors: Son: Rev. Kenneth Preston Mathena and wife Kathy of Bluefield, VA Daughters: Jean Wood and husband Tom of Richmond, VA Wilma Gray and husband Charles of St. Louis, MO Kay Bearre of Ocean Isle, NC Step-Sons: Richard Mathena of Los Angeles, CA Robert Mathena of New Mexico Don Mathena of Council Bluff, IA Stepdaughters: Betty Davidson of Tazewell, VA Peggy Addison of Cleveland, OH 7 Grandchildren, 18 Step-grandchildren and several great-grandchildren Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. David Bain and Dr. Scott Bryan officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA. Pallbearers will be Charles Scruggs, Kerwin Helmandollar, Steve Branch, Troy Rasnake, Nathan Morris and Kenny Compton. Friends may call on Wednesday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
