Virginia Mae Kanode Faw, age 89, of Montcalm, WV, passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at her residence.
Born on June 28, 1920 in Raleigh, WV, she was a daughter of the late Walter James and Lucy Jane Dudley Kanode. She had been a resident of Montcalm for most of her life and was a member of the Montcalm Methodist Church, where she was active in the Methodist Women’s Club, Senior Citizens Club, and the XYZ. She was retired from the Mercer County Board of Education with 30 years of service and served as head cook at Montcalm Elementary School. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Tam Thomas Faw, Sr.; a daughter Carol Sue Faw; a grandson, Michael Thomas Faw; brothers, Charles & Frank Kanode; and sisters, Winnie Thompson, Robbie Norris, and Bessie Barnes. She was the last surviving member of her family.

Jimmie E. Faw and wife Elizabeth of Princeton

Joyce Ann Faw Belcher and husband Roger of Rock
15 grandchildren: Jonathan, David, Tamara, Jennifer, John, Lisa, Stephen, Tonya, Jason
Roger, Robin, Pamela, Bruce, and Brad
15 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, December 3, 2009 at 3:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Pastor David Ratcliff officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where grandsons, Jonathan Faw, Bruce and Brad Taylor, Jason Faw, Roger Belcher, Jr., Steven and John Faw will serve as pallbearers.
