Glenna M. Poe 82, of 1213 Augusta St. Bluefield, WV passed away on August 27, 2010 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center with her family at her bedside. Born February 4, 1928 in Cedar Bluff, VA she was the oldest child of the late Glen W. and Cornelia Hall Martin. The family moved to Bluefield during her elementary school years where she graduated from Beaver High School in 1946. She served as “head-majorette” for Beaver High School Marching Band. Following high school, she worked briefly for SS Kressgees Company in downtown Bluefield and later worked as secretary under several pastors for Grace United Methodist Church. At her passing, she was a member Trinity United Methodist Church. She worked proudly for a number of years with the United Methodist Women holding various offices on the local, district and state levels. She was active with the electoral processes of Mercer County and was charged with the operations of polling precincts in the Bluefield Districts. She was a devoted caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be terrifically missed by the family and friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Richard M. Poe, a son WM. Mark Poe Sr., an infant grandson, WM Mark Poe Jr., and two brothers Ronnie W. Martin and Jack H. Martin all of Bluefield, WV Survivors include her children: R.M. “Mike” Poe and wife Patty Bluefield Charles N. Poe and wife Linda of Athens Kathy S. Poe of Bluefield Sharon R. Poe of Bluefield Karen K. Poe of Bluefield Three Grandchildren: Tracy Poe Scott and husband Dwain of Louisa, VA Michael Poe and fiancée Sarah Mesa of Columbia, MD Nick Poe and wife Elizabeth of Princeton Great Granddaughter: Brynne Nicole Poe Sister: Peggy M. Belcher of Bluefield Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 30, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, WV with Rev. D. Homer Stewart and Rev. Susan Rector officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, WV Friends and family may call at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, WV on Sunday, August 29, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Grandchildren and nephews will be serving as pallbearers Online condolences may be sent to the Poe family at www.cravens-shires.com
