Jimmie E. Sluss

Jimmie E. Sluss, age 79, of General Delivery, Wolfe, WV, passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at a Bluefield hospital. Born on March 29, 1931 in Mercer County, he was a son of the late Hubert and Nora Sluss. He had been a resident of Wolfe for 45 years and was of the Baptist faith. He was a retired security guard and was a veteran of the US Army and served during the Korean Conflict. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Teddy E. Sluss; brothers, Bill, Elwood, Burnard, and JR; and sisters, Mildred and Marzie Sluss. Survivors include: Wife: Sadie Mitchem Sluss of the home 3 sons: Darrell Sluss and wife Carol of Pinnacle, NC Tommy Sluss and wife Mary Ann of Trinity, NC John Sluss and Fiancé Dianna of Yadkinville, NC 3 daughters: Sherry Wimmer and husband Mike of Brushfork Jackie Sluss of Glenwood Margie Smith and husband Johnny of Wolfe 2 grandchildren whom he raised: Jeremy Sluss of Brushfork Jamie Sluss of Nemours 5 grandchildren 9 great grandchildren Granddaughter in law: Faye Sluss Sisters: Nancy Zaborsky of Bluewell Jean Strach of IL Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, August 30, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Pastor Bobby Koen officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA where military honors will be conducted by the WV Honor Guard and the Mercer County Veteran’s Council. Jeremy Sluss, Jamie Sluss, George Quesenberry, Brandon Smith, Johnny Smith, and Mike Wimmer will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call on Monday from 12:00 -1:00 at the funeral home.
