Robert Grant Blackburn

Robert Grant Blackburn, Sr. 77, of 5633 Airport Road Bluefield, WV passed away on November 14, 2010 at his residence. Robert was born on May 28, 1933 in Hardy, KY to the late Velma Johnson Canary. Mr. Blackburn had been a resident of Bluefield, WV for the past 32 years and was a member of the Maple View Church of Christ. He was retired from Joy Manufacturing with 18 years of service and served his country with 26 years in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Bluefield, WV. Robert was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Survivors Include: His wife of 57 years Nancy Lee Caldwell Blackburn of the home One son Robert G. Blackburn Jr. and wife Pam of Bristol, TN One daughter Robyn Shrewsbury and fiancé Mike Phillips of Bluefield, WV One brother William E. Blackburn and wife Ann of Dagsboro, DE Special friend and former daughter in law Barbara Jean Rider husband Pete of Abbs Valley, VA Three grandchildren Robert Grant Blackburn III and wife Amy Jennifer Reid and husband Kelly Lindsey Shrewsbury Four great grandchildren Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, WV with Minister Tony Reed officiating. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Princeton, WV where Kelly Reid, George Faulkner, Mike Philips, Matthew Cox, Charles Goins and Corky Jones will serve as pallbearers. Military Graveside Honors will be performed by the West Virginia Honor Guard.
