Welch – Aaron Philip Hull of St. Petersburg, Florida formerly of Welch, WV; died Wednesday, May 12, 2010 in Florida. He was born May 20, 1907 and would have been 103. Phil, as everyone knew him, was born in Dugspur, Carroll County, Virginia to Leon Dexter Hull and Nora Jane Worrell but lived most of his life in the Welch and Davy areas of McDowell County serving as maintenance foreman for Grace Hospital later known as Doctor’s Memorial for 42 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Maud Madeline Tuttle; and two sons: Marlin and Aaron Hull; and two son-in-laws: Harry Surber and Oscar (Buddy) Spriggs.
He is survived by four children: Gloria (Bo) Surber and Vera Sexton of Pulaski, Virginia; Donald and Joyce Hull of Seminole, Florida; Ruth Spriggs of St. Petersburg, Florida; two daughter-in-laws: Mabel Hull of Richmond, Virginia and Beverly Hull of King, NC; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Phil was a wonderful person with many friends who never forgot him over the years because of his bright smile and helping hands.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, May 17 at 12:00 Noon from the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell, WV with Diane Hall, granddaughter, officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell.
Friends may call Monday at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until service time at noon.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great grandsons.
