Bernice Beatrice Minnick, age 92, of GlenWood Park Retirement Village formerly of 1620 Stadium Drive, Bluefield, WV, died on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at GlenWood Park. Born on December 29, 1917 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Nora Hall Hager. She had lived in Mercer County most of her life and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was the former owner and manager of Davidson’s Market in Brushfork and was a seamstress for the Town and Tweed Ladies Shop. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Bluefield. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Rock Chapter #130 where she was a Past Worthy Matron. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, L. Taylor Minnick; a sister Ruth Hager; and brother, Allen Hager. Survivors: Daughters: Frances Davidson and husband Jack of Bluefield Shirley Smith and husband Lloyd of Sun City Center, FL Peggy Foy and husband Bernard of Orlando, FL Brother: Titus Hager and wife Charlotte of Pennsylvania 6 Grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 19, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Dr. Allen Hammond and Rev. Jim Davidson officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Her grandsons and great-grandsons will be serving as pallbearers. The Bluefield Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #66 will perform a memorial service at 10:45 AM prior to the funeral. Friends may call from 10:00-11:00 AM on Friday prior to the service. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to GlenWood Park Retirement Village. The family is accepting online condolences at www.cravens-shires.com. The Cravens-Shires Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
