Albert Richard “Abbie” Perdue, Sr. age 83, of Rt. 5, Box 461, Bluefield, WV died on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at his residence. Born on January 17, 1927 in Mercer County, he was a son of the late Zollie and Lucy Hager Perdue. He had lived in the Bluefield area his entire life and was the owner and operator for Perdue Construction Company. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the US Air Force. He was a member of the Brushfork Baptist Church. He loved NASCAR, camping, and gardening. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Olean Hurst Perdue; brothers, Robert, Vernon, and Vester Ray Perdue; and sisters, Veda Lorraine Lockhart, Virginia Lockhart and Roxie Mae Perdue. Survivors: Son: Albert R. “Richard” Perdue, Jr. and wife Deborah of Bluefield, WV Step-Daughter: Marsha Howell of Danville, VA Brothers: Zollie Perdue, Jr. of Roanoke, VA Warren Phillip Perdue of Bluefield, WV Sister: Clara Farmer of Concord, NC Grandchildren: Jonathan Perdue of Hickory, NC and Matthew Perdue of Bluefield, WV Step-Grandchildren Greg Sigmon of Danville, VA, Joe Sigmon of Beckley, WV, Marsha Bowman of Hickory, NC and Jeff Sigmon of California Special friends, Dr. Chandle and staff, PHHC, Dr. Amin and Staff, and staff of Blue Ridge Hearing Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at 3:00 at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. Gary Pennington officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Friends may call on Monday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Ray (Spud) Jarrell, Don Anderson, Garnett Webb, Curtis Sigmon, Greg Sigmon, and Johnny Price will serve as Pallbearers. The family is accepting online condolences at www.cravens-shires.com. The Cravens-Shire Funeral Home in Bluewell is in charge of arrangements.
