CHARLOTTE, NC--- James Harold Shoemaker, age 85, of 8001 Wilora Lake Road Charlotte, NC, formerly of Princeton, WV passed away Sunday, October 17, 2010 at Wilora Lake Care Center in Charlotte, NC. Born August 18, 1925 in Ashland, WV he was the son of the late James D. and Beulah Hodges Shoemaker. Mr. Shoemaker had been a resident of the Charlotte area for the past 3 years. Prior to moving, he had been a lifelong resident of the Princeton area. He was retired from Consol Coal Company and was a member of the UMWA for 41 years. He attended the Pleasant Plaines Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Shoemaker; four sisters, Odella Williams, Dorothy Thorton, Priscilla Shoemaker, and Melvina Comer; Two brothers,Darrell Shoemaker and George Law Survivors include, Two sons, Harold “Bo” Shoemaker and wife Mary of Charlotte, NC James Matthew Shoemaker of Glen Rogers, WV Four brothers, Calvin Shoemaker and wife Joan of Bluefield, WV Ernie Shoemaker and wife Margaret of Bluefield, WV Glenn Shoemaker and wife Doris of Clarksville, TN Kelly Shoemaker and wife Betty of Forest, VA Two sisters, Lucy Stone and husband Ray of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Myrtle Dew and husband Gary of Travis City, Mich. Three Grandchildren and One Great-grandchild Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, WV with Minister Frank Watkins officiating. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Bluewell, WV. Friends may call Wednesday, October 20, 2010 from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Family and friends will serve as Pallbearers.
