BLUEFIELD, WV--- Paul James Underwood, age 77, of RT 2 Box 398-H Bluefield, WV passed away Monday July 13, 2009 at Princeton Community Hospital. Born August 20, 1931 in Premier, WV he was the son of the late Jessie James and Daisy Mae Duncan Underwood. Mr. Underwood was a resident of the Bluefield area most of his life. He was a U.S. Army, Korean War Veteran. Mr. Underwood was a retired auto mechanic. He was an avid hunter and a member of the Monroe County Coon Hunters Club. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Randall Joe Underwood; three brothers; Raymond, John K., and Granvill Underwood and one sister Pearlie Bowman. Survivors include his wife Betty Jean Underwood of Bluefield, WV; three sons, Mike Underwood and wife Donna of Bluefield, WV, Brian Underwood and wife Brenda of Rich Creek, VA, and Alan Underwood and Charles Martin of Charleston, WV. One daughter, Karen Garrison and husband Billy of Tazewell, VA; Four brothers, Richard Underwood of Bluefield, WV, Freddy Underwood of Denver, CO, Jessie Underwood of Mississippi, and Hershal Pete Underwood of Ohio. Four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, July 17, 2009 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell, WV with Rev. Pete Underwood officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with Military honors being conducted by the WV Honor Guard. Friends may call Thursday evening July 16, 2009 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Family and friends will serve as Pallbearers.
