Danny Ray Gibson

Danny Ray Gibson, age 59, of Montcalm, died peacefully on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 surrounded by his family at the home of his sister, Charlotte, who faithfully and lovingly cared for him during the last year of his life. Danny was born on May 4, 1950 in Iaeger to the late Virgil and Pearl Lester England Gibson. He was a body repairman by trade and had worked for Haun Motors. Danny had a great love for horses and enjoyed working on old trucks. Danny was preceded in death by his loving wife, Alice Hedges Gibson; as well as his parents and five brothers, lacy England, Jr., Ronnie England, Walter England, Ernest England, Jay England; and two sisters, Hazel Riffe and Helen England. Survivors from his fist marriage are John W. Gibson of Dillwyn, VA, Melissa Jennings and husband Tony of Abingdon, VA, and Sheila Jennings and husband James of Montcalm. Survivors from his second marriage are Kevin Hedges and wife Melissa of Princeton, James hedges of Princeton, Ronald Hedges of Moundsville, David Post of Kegley, and Rosemary Seay and husband Luke of Montcalm. Danny is also survived by two brothers, Clyde Gibson and wife Bonnie of Princeton, and Bobby England and wife Imogene of Huff Creek, WV; and three sisters, Shelby Gibson of Iaeger, Linda Lester and husband Jay of Steeles, WV, and Charlotte Burnett of Montcalm. He had 14 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews including two special nieces, Dolores Mullins and Sharon Lambert, which he dearly loved. He also had a precious sister in Christ, Sammie Poteet and his best friend, Bill Thomas of Montcalm. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Minister Sammie Poteet and Pastor Albert Jarrell officiating. Burial will follow at the Belcher Family Cemetery in Coaldale where friends of the family will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call on Friday from 6-9 PM at the funeral home.
