Jimmy Joe Simons

Jimmy Joe Simons, age 74, of 1019 ½ Old Bramwell Road, Bluefield, WV, passed away on Monday, December 13, 2010 at his home. Born on February 6, 1936 in Clearfork, VA, and was preceded in death by his parents, Wiley and Elizabeth Neal Simons; a daughter, Diana O’Quinn; a brother, and two sisters. He retired after 22 years of service in the Army National Guard, during which time he served many years as Manager of the Brushfork Armory and worked for the State of West Virginia for 27 years. He served his country during the Berlin Crisis while stationed in Ft. Meade, MD. Survivors include: Wife of 55 years: Janice Puckett Simons of the home Son: Joe Simons and wife Debbie of Front Royal, VA Daughter: Kim Jones and husband Henry of Bluefield, VA Son in law: Thomas O’ Quinn of Bluefield, VA 4 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren Brother: Robert Lee Simons and wife Vicki of Bluewell Sister: Phyllis Hartwell of Bluewell Several nieces and nephews Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, December 16, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Tony Ellis officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA where Brandon Akers, Shannon Akers, David Simons, Eric Hawkins, Tommy Ratliff, and Allen Wimmer will serve as pallbearers.
