Alverda “Casey” Vance, 71, of 370-A Bluewell, West Virginia passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 28, 2009 at the home of her daughter in Bluefield, West Virginia. Mrs. Vance was born on December 04, 1937 in Romney, West Virginia to the late Burr E. Barnes and Mary G. Loy Barnes. She was a member of the Bramwell Presbyterian Church and retired secretary from Bramwell Elementary School where she had 24 years of service. Mrs. Casey was a captain in the Mercer County Civil Air Patrol and an active member of the choir at Bramwell Presbyterian Church. She served as past PTA president and as the local National Reading Council president. Mrs. Casey was an avid gardener and loved riding horses and also a avid dog lover. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband William H. “Jim” Vance. Left to survive her memory: Two Sons: Jeff Vance of Bramwell, West Virginia and Emory Vance of Rock Hill, South Carolina One Daughter: Cindy Brannon of Bluefield, West Virginia Two Sisters: Nora Kimble of Ft. Ashby, West Virginia and Ruby Blanton, Naples, Florida Three Grandchildren and two Great grandchildren Funeral service will be held at the Bramwell Presbyterian Church in Bramwell, West Virginia on Sunday, May 31, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with the Ministers Jim Godwin, Jr., Toby Ziegler and David Ratcliff officiating the service. Burial will be held on Monday, June 01, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, West Virginia. Friends and family may call at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home on Saturday, May 30, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Anyone wishing to attend the Graveside services on Monday is asked to meet at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, West Virginia by 10:30 a.m. Serving as pallbearer will be Bramwell Volunteer Fire Department and Jeffery Brannon The Cravens-Shires Funeral Home is serving the Vance family.
