James Daniel Folks, age 70, of Route 1 Box 468, Bluefield, WV, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2009 at a Bluefield hospital.
Born on July 21, 1938, he was a son of the late James Andrew and Louise Herald Lively Folks. He had only been a resident of Bluefield for 2 months and was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith. Formerly living in Tampa, FL , he was retired from the maintenance department at Tampa general hospital. He was an exceptional painter and was very proud and particular with his work. He enjoyed fishing and his Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Janet and Cathy Ann Folks; and a sister, Ruth Crawford.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Rose Folks of the home; two daughters, Donna Furr of IN and Loretta Rogers of Denton, TX; three sons, James Andrew Folks of Jacksonville, FL, Michael Folks of Ashland, OH, and Daniel Folks of Ashland, OH; 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren; two brothers, Rev. Ernest Folks and wife Deborah of Bramwell, and Walter Folks and wife Kathy of Bedford, VA; and two sisters, Marie Morris of Lake Dallas, TX, and Rebecca Barnett of Princeton.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with his brother, Rev. Ernest Folks officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial gardens in Princeton.
Friends may call on Wednesday evening from 6-8PM at the funeral home.
