Dayton R. Harvey

Dayton Randall “Blue” Harvey, age 80, of Route 2 Box 137 (McComas), Rock, WV, passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2009 at a Bluefield hospital. Born on March 14, 1929 in McComas, he was a son of the late Dayton Elmore and Goldie Ardelia Walker Harvey. He had been a lifelong resident of McComas and was a retired coal miner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Frankie, Darel and Johnny Harvey. Survivors include: one daughter, Ardelia Mallory and husband Greg of Brushfork; two sons, Delbert R. Harvey of Kernersville, NC, and Billy Harvey of Kernersville, NC; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild; one brother, Wilford Lester Harvey and wife Lorene of Bluefield; and one sister, Elizabeth Harvey Young and husband Robert of Orlando, FL. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where friends and family will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call on Monday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
