Lewis A. Bailey
CRUMPLER — Lewis A. Bailey, age 71, of Crumpler, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 27, 2009. Born July 1, 1937 in Crumpler, he was the son of the late Alvin and Ice Shrewsbury Bailey. He was a member of the C.W.A. and Crumpler Liberty Chapel. He was retired from G.T.E. Northfork Office; he also worked ten years at Ashland Mines. He was an avid hunter throughout his life time and during his retirement years he took great pleasure in his hunting dogs and ATV.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Joe Bailey; and four sisters, Pearl Carrico, Elizabeth Rorrer, Felda Angle, and Winnie Faudree; and one stepgreat-grandson, J. J. Gore.
Living in Crumpler the last 29 years he leaves behind to mourn his passing wife, Esther (Sissy) Mathena Bailey; son, Johnny and wife Kathy of Bluewell; grandson, Issac and wife Kayla Bailey of Princeton; and great-grandson, Noah of Princeton; stepchildren, Lola Lambert of Danville, Va., Jean Jarrett and husband Tim of Falls Mills, Va., Julia Varble and husband Kevin of Williamsburg, Va., Teresa Dye and husband J. W. of Bluefield, Va., James Spears and wife Cindy of Bluefield, Va., and Janet Mullins of Princeton; stepgrandchildren, Mikie Phillips, Chase Mullins, Jamie Spears, T. J. Jarrett, Casey Dye, Courtney Dye, Daniel Lowe, Amanda Stolins, Crystal Gore, Shawna Lambert, Amanda Renee Varble, and Amanda Toth; stepgreat-grandchildren, Preston Stolins, Madalyn Jarrett, Justin Gore and Brianna Gore; three sisters, Barbara Beggs of Princeton, Margaret Sadler of Princeton, Louisa Mitchem of Brushfork; two brothers, Mack Bailey of Ohio and Lawrence Bailey of Florida.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, W.Va. at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Joseph Hodges, the Rev. Robert Huddler, and the Rev. Earl Hill officiating the service. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, W.Va. Friends and family may call at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Serving as pallbearers will be Rick Umberger, Alvie Bailey, Cecil Burks, Mike Moore, Gary Walker, and Daniel Lowe.
