Oliver M. Knouff, Jr., age 93, of Elkhorn, WV passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2009 at his residence.
Born on April 10, 1916 in Welch, he was a son of the late Oliver M. and Lestelle L. Baker Knouff. He had been a resident of Mercer and McDowell counties for his entire life and was of the Methodist faith. He was a veteran of the US Army and served during World War II in the Pacific. He was a retired coal miner from Eastern Gas & Coal and was a member of the UMWA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mable Elizabeth East Knouff; a brother Russell, and a sister Margaret.

1 daughter: Patricia “Patsy” Bowles of Elkhorn
1 grandson: Colton Bowles and wife Renee of Columbia, SC
1 great grandson: Jonathan Oliver Bowles of Columbia, SC
1 brother: George Knouff of Blacksburg, VA
1 sister: Dorothy Kessinger, formerly of Princeton
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, August 31, 2009 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Olen Robertson officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where military honors will be performed by the WV Honor Guard and Mercer County Veteran’s Council. Jerry Knouff, David McNeil, John Mikels, Justin Mikels, Jonathan Mikels, Walter “Toby” Jones, Andre Palmateer, and Randy Green will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call on Sunday evening from 6-9 at the funeral home.
