Bluefield, WV – Douglas Campbell, 81, passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at the Mercer Nursing and Rehab. Center in Bluefield, West Virginia. Douglas was born on November 23, 1927 in Cassel, Virginia.
He as careers as both a coal miner and logger at points in his life. An avid walker, not allowing moss to grow under his feet, he would walk the way the wind blew. Douglas regularly walked from Bluefield, WV to as far as Richland and Narrows, Virginia on numerous occasions. He always loved the outdoors and having a cup of coffee with friends. In his last few years Doug was a resident of Cumberland Care. He will be missed by all of his friends and extended family there. He is survived by friends and caregivers, Jerry Hicks and Margaret Saddler of Bluefield.
Graveside rites will be held for Mr. Campbell at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, West Virginia on Monday, October 05, 2009 at 1:00p.m. Captain Jerry Lester will be officiating the service. Burial will follow.
Those wishing to attend graveside services are asked to meet at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home on Monday by 12:30 PM.
