Willard B. “B.J.” Riffe, Jr.
BLUEFIELD, Va. — Willard B. “B.J.” Riffe, Jr., age 30, of 405 Woodspoint Drive, Bluefield, Va., died on Monday, October 5, 2009 at Tazewell Community Hospital in Tazewell, Va.
Born on April 27, 1979, in Bluefield, he was a son of Willard B. Riffe, Sr. of Bluefield, Va. and Sandra O'Neal of Princeton, W.Va. He had lived in Bluefield, Va. for the last year and worked in Radio Communications. He was a Ham Radio operator and was a director of radio operations. He was elected to the Who's Who Society among American Junior Colleges. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion and the American Humane Society. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Willard John and Alice Riffe
Survivors in addition to his parents include daughter and love of his life, Presley Alice Faye Riffe of Pocahontas, Va.; his very, very, close brother, Bryan David Riffe of Bluefield, Va.; maternal grandparents, Willa Faye O'Neal who was like a second mother to him and Frank O'Neal of Princeton, W.Va. He is also survived by a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with the Rev. Connie Lester officiating. Entombment will follow at the Woodlawn Mausoleum in Bluewell. Serving as pallbearers will be Bryan Riffe, Charles Davis, Frank “Sonny” O'Neal, Jr., Joe Jarvis, Craig Moore and Andy Lawrence. Honorary pallbearers will be Russell Morris, Ronnie Smith, Craig Riffe, and Lawrence Riffe.
Friends may call on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
