George Law, age 88, of Bluefield, WV, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA.
Born on August 24, 1921 in Rocky Mount, VA, he was a son of the late John and Beulah Hodge Law. He had been a resident of Bluefield for 50 years and was a faithful member in the church and attended the First Assembly of God. George was employed by Consol Energy for 43 years and retired as General Superintendant. He served in the US Army as a Sergeant and was a veteran of World War II where he served in the European Theater. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star, American Theater Ribbon, and the European-African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon. He also helped to give a 17 gun salute to General George S. Patton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, four sisters, and one brother.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. Walter Lee Wood and Rev. Brad Puckett officiating. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Bluewell with John Chmara, II, John Langton, Rick Allen, Delmas Devor, Charles Wells, and Jack Grose serving as pallbearers. Military honors will be conducted by the WV Honor Guard and the Mercer County Veteran’s Council.
Friends may call on Saturday from 11:00 to 1:00 at the funeral home.
