Dennis Westley Harmon

Dennis "Den-Den" Westley Harmon, 55, of HC 76, Box 890 (Crumpler), Northfork, West Virginia, peacefully departed this life on Saturday, September 12, 2009, at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley with his family by his side. Born on April 27, 1954, in Grundy, Virginia, he was the son of the late William "Bob" and Rosie Harmon of Gary, West Virginia. Dennis was a lifelong resident of McDowell County. He was an avid lover of bingo, cat fishing and four wheeling. He was a practical joker and loved to make others laugh. He was employed as a coal miner and a security guard with Neal and Associates of Bluewell. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He never met a stranger and his smile always lit up a room. He will truly be missed by all that knew and loved him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Cynthia Marie Harmon. Those left to keep his memory alive include his daughter, Heather Castle of Anawalt; son Jonathan "Rambo" Richardson and wife Danita of Bluefield; granddaughters, Lindsey and Taylor Castle of Anawalt; and Rylee Richardson of Bluefield; sisters, Isabel Fox and husband Terry of Gary; Sandy Pugh and husband Steve of Bluefield; brothers, Billy Harmon and wife Donna of Daniels; twin brother David Harmon and wife Drema of Gary; Roger Harmon and wife Delena of Gary; Timmy Harmon and wife Susan of Montcalm, and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Evangelist Steven Harmon officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell where Jonathan Richardson, Nathen Harmon, Chris Fox, Stacy Harmon, Scott Harmon and Jimmy Shimel will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. at the funeral home on the day of the service.
